2013 Gartner Business Intelligence Excellence Award Finalists Announced for Asia Pacific
From:Gartner Newsroom Release time:2016-07-17
Technology research and advisory firm Gartner today announced the finalists for the 2013 Gartner Business Intelligence (BI) Excellence Award in Asia Pacific:

• Procter & Gamble

• Iluka Resources

• DuluxGroup

The Gartner BI Excellence Award recognises organisations in Asia Pacific that demonstrate excellence, innovation and the impact to the business of a program involving the use of analytics, BI or performance management initiatives. The awards attracted submissions from organisations across the region, representing large and mid-size organisations from a variety of industry sectors, including private sector, government and non-profit.

The awards are run every second year in Asia Pacific. This is the third time the award will be presented. Past winners were food packaging giant Tetra Pak (2009) and Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (2011).

Award entries were evaluated by Gartner analysts and the finalists will present their case study to conference delegates during Gartner’s Business Intelligence & Information Management Summit in Sydney on Monday, 25 February 2013. Summit attendees will vote to select the winner from these finalists, who will be announced during the closing keynote on Tuesday, 26 February.

Gartner research director Daniel Yuen said the three finalists all demonstrated innovative ways they are using BI to get more value from their data and achieve measurable improvements.

“Organisations continue to be challenged in developing their capabilities in information or fact-based decision making,” said Mr Yuen. “Widespread adoption of business analytics has resulted in a fundamental shift of BI strategy towards being more future facing. It is encouraging to see the global best practices demonstrated by all of our finalists are focused on achieving this.”

BI and analytics topped the 2013 technology priority list for CIOs in Asia Pacific again this year, according to the 2013 Gartner Executive Programs (EXP) CIO Agenda survey. The increasing focus on BI in the Asia Pacific region is largely due to CIOs combining analytics with other technologies to create new capabilities, such as analytics plus supply chain for process management and improvement; analytics plus mobility for field sales and operations; and analytics plus social for customer engagement and acquisition.
