In 2016, Guangzhou Municipal Local Taxation Bureau(GZLT) collected taxes and fees of 251.78 billion yuan, slightly increasing 0.4% year on year due to the influence of comprehensive change of business tax to VAT, suspension of levee protection fee and price adjustment fund and other policies. The tax income was 138.14 billion yuan, down 6%; fee income was 113.64 billion yuan, up 9.5%,including social insurance income of 100.62 billion yuan, up 12%, year on year.
In 2006, GZLT earnestly carried out tax preference policies and actively gave play of tax’s functions to add new momentum for economic development. On one hand, it insisted on making parallel efforts in law-based tax levy and the implementation of tax incentives, carried out national structural tax reduction policies completely and reached tax and fee exemption and reduction of 33 billion yuan to reduce burden and increase efficiency for economic and social development. The livelihood-related tax and fee exemption and reduction hit 16.3 billion yuan, high-tech incentive exemption and reduction reached 1.7 billion yuan and small- and micro-enterprises promotion exemption and reduction was 1.3 billion yuan. On the other hand, according to relevant regulations, the suspension of levee protection fee and price adjustment fund alleviated burden of 710 million yuan for enterprises.
