On the afternoon of January 25, Guangzhou Port Group and Zhuhai Port Holdings signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Guangzhou, aiming at implementing multi-level comprehensive cooperation on planning and construction, business exchange, capital cooperation and maritime strategic pivot port cluster development, and tapping their respective advantages, integrating resources, improving the services of the two ports and participating in the construction of “One Belt and One Road” and the International Shipping Center of Guangzhou.
 
Chen Hongxian, chairman of Guangzhou Port Group, introduced that the newly built port area of Guangzhou and Zhuhai Port are both located at the banks of Xijiang River. They are both the bridgehead of the “One Belt and One Road” national strategy, share the same hinterland and enjoy high complementary on the development strategy. The two parties will cooperate on the dock businesses, Xijiang River ship route, bulk goods distribution and financial leasing to further improve the competitiveness of ports in the Pearl River Delta in China. This is an effort of implementing the “One Belt and One Road” national strategy and an important step as well for promoting the strategic deployment of building Guangzhou International Shipping Center.
 
Ou Huisheng, chairman of Zhuhai Port Holdings said the company and Guangzhou Port Group would give play to their respective advantages to make contribution to the economic development of the hinterland of Guangdong and the ports. Both parties will accelerate detailing and implementation of the cooperation projects so as to make achievements as soon as possible.
