On January 28, Ren Xuefeng, secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, presided over the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee to deliver the spirit of the speech of Hu Chunhua, secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee. Ren proposed that Guangzhou should grow stronger as a capital city, and make concrete efforts to allow Guangzhou match the name of regional center of South China, increase its influences at home and abroad and constantly consolidate and improve its status as a central city of China.

 

The meeting put forward several “deeply understandings”, and required the departments at all levels to deeply understand the positioning of Guangzhou as a capital city and the regional center of South China, increase its influence at home and abroad and improve its status as a central city; deeply understand the dominant direction of industrial development and implement “two-wheel driving strategy” of modern service industry and advanced manufacturing so as to take the commanding height of economy; deeply understand the focus of urban construction and management, accelerate the updating paces of the city, showcase the distinct characteristics of Lingnan culture that combines the Chinese and western elements, the ancient and the modern elements and international and local elements, build a clean, neat and orderly urban environment and a livable metropolis favorable for business development.
