Guangzhou has been recognized as a national pilot city of new-type urbanization standardization of China. Recently the Standardization Administration of China says at its official website that the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and ten other ministries distributed the Plan for Comprehensive Pilot of New-type Urbanization (Pilot Plan), officially launching the comprehensive pilot scheme of new-type urbanization of China. The formulation of new-type urbanization standardization system has been listed as one of the main tasks of system and mechanism reform and innovation. Ten cities, including Guangzhou, Ningbo and Qingdao, started the standardization pilot schemes simultaneously.
Huang Jianwen, director of the Standardization Division of Guangzhou Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, told Guangzhou Daily that he has not received any official notice and he learned from the Internet that Guangzhou was recognized as the national new-type urbanization standardization pilot. However, Guangdong has always been a model of national standardization while Guangzhou is a standardization model of Guangdong Province. The recognition of Guangzhou as a pilot indicates that the city has been recognized on the standardization works. “It is reasonably expected.”
He said Guangzhou has also set up many industrial and local standardization pilots. In the following days, it will promote standardization works in a comprehensive and extensive way to create more standardization pilots.
In recent years, Guangzhou has invested nearly RMB100 million in high-tech industry, advanced manufacturing, modern services, social management and public services and agriculture sectors to build 30 national demonstration pilots, 27 provincial demonstration pilots and 55 municipal demonstration pilots. It has formulated 350 local standards in the field of social management alone.
Meanwhile, Guangzhou Standards have fueled the urbanization and economic development of the city in the important stage when Guangzhou is optimizing its industrial structure and improving the industrial transformation. The data shows that the formulation of standards has showed a positive growth relationship with the economic growth of Guangzhou. Its growth rate is normally higher than the GDP growth and the growth rate of number of formulated (amended) standards is two times of the GDP growth in the past three years.
