Guangzhou’s Cross-border E-commerce Ranks China’s No. 1 in 2016 Again

The total import and export of China’s cross-border E-commerce in 2016 reached 49.96 billion yuan, 38.7% higher than that in the same period last year. The total import and export of Guangzhou’s cross-border E-commerce in 2016 was 14.68 billion yuan, 1.2 times higher than that in the previous year. Guangzhou continued ranking China’s first in the business scale among nationwide 60 cities with cross-border E-commerce business.
In January 2016, the State Council’s reply approved Guangzhou’s establishment of pilot cross-border E-commerce comprehensive zone and required the city to simplify administration, authorize power downward, optimize service, boldly explore and innovate in development. So, while maintaining effective supervision, Guangzhou Customs has energetically improved “customs clearance efficiency and services”, set up the Guangzhou Mode for cross-border E-commerce customs clearance which features “smooth logistics, convenient and fast customs clearance and effective supervision”, and realized standardized automatic customs declaration and paperless smart customs clearance for cross-border E-commerce, and “instant release” for more than 95% cross-border products. In 2016, the General Administration of Customs entrusted Guangzhou Customs to develop the national unified informatization customs clearance management system for cross-border E-commerce imports and spread the system nationwide on January 1, 2017.
Next, Guangzhou Customs will greatly boost the business modes including cross-border E-commerce B2B and Exports to Special Region, release the market’s new energy, promote new business mode’s development, attract various enterprises and support foreign trade’s optimization, upgrading and development through a more efficient and more convenient mode.
