China is dedicated to further expanding opening-up, continuing providing more investment opportunities for foreign enterprises, building a loose, orderly investment environment and a fair competition environment, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang at the routine press conference held on February 7, 2017.

On February 6, EU Trade Commissioner Malmstrom said that she agreed to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech that trade war will end with injuries to both sides at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting and. EU is willing to jointly opposing trade protectionism with China. But to put the reform into practice will be a great challenge in front of China. There are still many barriers and frictions in EU-China trade, and EU-China economic relationship is far from balance.

At the opening ceremony of the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping said to unswervingly develop global free trade and investment, push forward free trade and investment facilitation, and clearly opposing trade protectionism. In the past 40 years, China has continuously pushed forward reform and opening-up, and offered important momentum to the opening-up world economic development. The reciprocal, win-win and profound economic cooperation between China and EU has received great achievements. “China has insisted on boosting global trade and investment facilitation and opposing protectionism in any form. And China hopes EU to judge China’s reform and opening-up progress from a historical and long-term view,” said Lu Kang.

“We would reiterate that China is dedicated to further expanding opening-up, continuing providing more investment opportunities for foreign enterprises, building a loose, orderly investment environment and a fair competition environment,” Lu Kang stressed. In fact, according to the 2016 World Investment, China is still the world’s 2^nd most popular investment destination. The statistics of Ministry of Commerce indicates that the investment to China in 2016 of the 28 countries of EU increased 41.3% year on year. 

Chin-EU economic and trade cooperation features a sound basis and a promising future, Lu said, China has insisted on exploring the cooperation potential and actively deepening all-round practical cooperation. China would team up with EU to jointly maintain a free and opening-up multilateral trade system.
