According to statistics of customs, in 2016, Guangzhou’s cross-border imports and exports reached 14.68 billion yuan, up 1.2 times year on year, consisting of exports of 8.65 billion yuan, 1.5 times higher than the previous year, and imports of 6.03 billion yuan, 83.2% higher than the previous year, ranking China’s No. 1 in both imports and exports, accounting for nearly 30% of the China’s total, over 60% of the province’s total, successfully completing the tasks arranged by the province and the city and meeting the municipal leader’s requirement of “three guarantees” (guarantee the completion of the city’s cross-border E-commerce imports and exports task arranged by the province, guarantee the city’s cross-border E-commerce imports and exports to continue taking lead in China, and guarantee to contribute to the province’s leadership in national cross-border E-commerce imports and exports).
In 2016, China’s cross-border E-commerce imports and exports reached 49.96 billion yuan, up 38.7% year on year. Guangzhou continued taking the lead among China’s 60 cross-border E-commerce cities with the amount of 14.68 billion yuan, accounting for 29.4% of China’s total and 64% of the province’s total. Guangzhou cross-border E-commerce imports and exports volumes accounted for 36.3% and 23.1% of the national total respectively, ranking No. 1 in China accordingly.
