Good News! Another World Leading Enterprise BLDP To Settle Down in Guangzhou!

Having made great achievements in 2016, Guangzhou exhibited its new power in investment promotion this year. On Feb. 15, Ballard Power Systems Inc.(short for BLDP below) announced to establish BLDP China Headquarters in Guangzhou.
 
According to Invest Guangzhou, BLDP China Headquarters, as BLDP’s first operation center in China, will support BLDP’s management, sales and business development, technical service and after-service as well as administrative operation. Recently, BLDP completed the WFOE registration under the name of Guangzhou Ballard Power Systems Inc. BLDP, as a leader for PEM fuel cell industry, has been dedicated to the development and production of fuel cells since 1983. So far, BLDP, as a world leader for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC) technology, is the world’s biggest PEMFC enterprises integrating design, development, production, sales and service for PEMFC.  
 
As for the settlement in Guangzhou, BLDP president and CEO Randy MacEwen said, “In the past year, we rapidly and successfully established business relationship in China, which urged us to build an operation team in the country.”
 
Actually, prior to the settlement, BLDP had contacts with Guangzhou. Between May 8 and 10 in 2016, Hu Chunhua, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Guangdong Committee, led Guangdong delegation to visit Canada and attended China(Guangdong)-Canada (British Columbia) Economic Trade Cooperation Fair. Guangzhou’s Vice Mayor Cai Chaolin, as a representative of the city, introduced the city’s business environment at the fair. BLDP’s CEO Randy MacEwen and Asia-Pacific GM Huang Yanhui also attended the fair.
 
Concerning the cooperation, Invest Guangzhou’s Director-General Wu Yi said, “We are very glad to learn that the world’s leading zero-drainage cell company BLDP determines to establish its Chinese headquarters in Guangzhou. BLDP will team up with local enterprises to realize our clean energy aim and China’s economic aim in the current Five-year Plan, and jointly make great contributions.”
 
In addition, BLDP announced to appoint Huang Yanhui as the general manager for the Asia-Pacific business. Now, Huang started the management on the Guangzhou-based headquarters to support BLDP’s business development. In terms of the settlement in Guangzhou, Huang said, “We’ll continue building the platform in China to satisfy current and future demands of customers. With the expansion of our partnership and geographical coverage, we’ll consider establishing other branches in China.”
