The bonded store in Zhujiang New Town had stimulated great expectations of the citizens. However, many citizens complained that the shopping experience in the store was not so good. Talking about that, Xiao Zhenyu, new director of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that electronic cross-border trade is a new type of business and, as a pilot site, Guangzhou encourages related enterprises to make innovations, though some practices still need further improvement.

 

"Will more bonded stores be opened this year?" Xiao said there is no limit on the number. He said, "Cross-border e-business is a trend that will be extended to the future. Support will be provided for enterprises to make innovations based on related customs regulations and under legal supervision." He agreed with that some specific operations of bonded stores need further improvement. Currently, preparations are being made to open more bonded stores in Guangzhou.

 

Concerning the free trade zone that has attracted great attention, Xiao gave his opinions. He believed that, the significance of the establishment of the free trade zone lies in that it will enable Guangzhou to meet with international investment and trade rules, build a international trade, shipping and logistics center and promote the construction of the financial system, and the citizens will benefit from the process.

 

"Shouldering great responsibilities, we should be very careful and try our best to do it well," said Xiao, who served as director general of the Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangzhou Municipality before being appointed as director of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce under the new round organization adjustment. "What kinds of changes will happen to the work of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce?" Concerning this question, Xiao said that the Commission of Commerce will take over all the work of the original Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and will also take the charge of the work related to domestic trade in accordance with the national trend for integration of domestic and foreign trade. Xiao mentioned that one of the major tasks of the Commission of Commerce this year is to expand investment promotion. He said, "A number of small-scale but effective high-end round-table conferences will be held to attract more Fortune 500 enterprises to Guangzhou."
