At the 2015 Plenary Meeting of the CPC Guangzhou Committee, the task to build an international air transport center in Guangzhou was set. Ren Xuefeng, secretary of CPC Guangzhou Committee, recently visited Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone. Ren said that Guangzhou has the foundation and conditions for accelerating the construction of international air transport hub and developing airport economy so that it should speed up the construction of high-standard air transport hub and airport economy demonstration zone to develop new engines to promote the economic development of Guangzhou.

Ren also said, Baiyun International Airport is a strategic resource of Guangzhou and the development of airport economy is an important task under the program of Guangzhou to build international shipping center, logistics center, trading center and modern financial service system. He said that the next step is to accelerate the preparation of the plan for the development of airport-based industries and the Three-Year Action Plan and to search for examples among global air transport hubs and airport economic zones. In addition, great efforts should be made to promote research and preparation of related policies and documents to accelerate the construction of air transport hub and the development of airport economy, propel investment and trade facilitation and make a good use of the 72-hour TWOV (Transit Without Visa) policy.
