Ren Xuefeng Meets with Leaders of Multinationals

Between March 21 and 23, Ren Xuefeng, secretary of CPC Guangzhou Committee, led a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of China Development Forum 2015 in Beijing, and participated in the session on development and control of metropolis circles and the roundtable on enterprises’ going global.
 
The annual China Development Forum, sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council, has the theme of China's economy in the “New Normal” this year. Numerous directors of multinationals, government officials, experts and scholars attended the forum. At the forum, Ren Xuefeng promoted the economic and social development of Guangdong and Guangzhou to the participants and met with leaders of more than 20 Fortune 500 corporations and exchanged opinions with them, such as Jean-Pascal Tricoire, chairman of the board of Schneider Electric and foreign chairman of the forum, William S. Cohen, chairman of the board of Cohen Group LLC and former secretary of US Department of Defense, Ben van Beurden, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell,Volkmar Denner, chairman of the board of Robert Bosch GmbH, Ian Read, chairman of the board of Pfize, Michael Treschow, chairman of the board of Unilever, Greg Hayes, president of UTC, Ulrich Spiesshofer, CEO of ABB, Douglas L. de Vos, president of Amway, Keith E. Williams, president of UL, Stephen W. Golsby, global president of Mead Johnson, Harry Shum, global executive vice president of Microsoft, Martin Sorrel, CEO of WPP, Dennis M. Nally, global chairman of PwC, Olof Persson, president of AB Volvo, John C Lechleiter, chairman of the board of Eli Lilly and Company, Walter Kielholz, chairman of the board of Swiss Reinsurance Company, and Leif Johansson, chairman of the board of Ericsson. Guangzhou is grasping the strategic opportunity of the development “one belt and one road” and free trade pilot zone to strengthen the innovation-driven development, strive to build marketized, legalized and international business environment, and encourage multinationals to further expand their investment and cooperation in Guangzhou, Ren stressed. The directors of multinationals are confident in Guangzhou’s development and future under the new normal of China’s economy and willing to strengthen cooperation and further expand their business.
