In accordance with the latest announcement of the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce(SAIC), since April 1, SAIC Trademark Examination Cooperation Center(TECC) Guangzhou Center launched new service measures to handle the alteration, transfer and extension of registered trademark and further boost the facilitation of trademark registration. TECC Guangzhou Center and Trademark Office Guangzhou Branch will directly handle the trademark registration of Guangdong, South China, Hong Kong and Macao.

 

As for the new business, TECC Guangzhou Center assigned dedicated persons and computers to guide enterprises to make online applications for trademark registration. Trademark registration applicants may directly handle the application in TECC Guangzhou Center at Liuhua Exhibition Hall, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou with relevant documents. They needn’t go to Beijing or entrust trademark agencies to handle the issue any more. So, not only enterprise cost and burden are reduced, but also the time for trademark transaction is saved, bringing more convenient, and more efficient trademark registration service to enterprises in Guangzhou and South China.

 

In recent years, with the continuous deepening of commercial system reform and the dramatic increase of market entities, the trademark application, registration and transaction have kept on rising rapidly. According to statistics, in recent five years, the number of registered trademarks of Guangzhou has increased at an accelerated pace. Guangzhou has 560 thousand registered trade mark, ranking the first among China’s sub-provincial cities and specifically designated cities in the state plan. In 2016 alone, Guangzhou saw 200 thousand trademark applications, and 30,000 cases for trademark registration, transfer and extension. About 110 million trademark agency fee are paid by trademark applicants for related business each year. Now trademark applicants may directly handle these business in TECC Guangzhou Center themselves and save such cost.

 

On December 1, 2016, TECC Guangzhou Center and Trademark Office Guangzhou Branch, China’s first such institution not in Beijing, were unveiled in Guangzhou for operation. By the end of March 2017, TECC Guangzhou Center had completed nearly 100,000 trademark physical examinations.
