China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Inaugurated Today

One and a half years after the establishment of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the overall plans for the new pilot free trade zones in Guangdong, Tianjin and Fujian and the plan for further reform and opening-up of Shanghai pilot free trade zone were released on April 20. It was learnt that, the inauguration ceremony of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone will be held on April 21, followed by a press conference later.
The China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone consists of the Nansha, Qianhai (Shekou) and Hengqin zones, covering a total area of 116.2 square kilometers. The pilot free trade zone in Nansha mainly will mainly target at the advanced developed countries to develop into a highland of modern industries led by productive services and a world-class comprehensive service hub. The pilot free trade zone in Qianhai (Shekou) will focus on promoting profound cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and serving as a pilot and demonstration portal for the opening-up of the Chinese finance industry as well as an important base and a pivotal port for international services and trade. The pilot free trade zone in Hengqin aims to promote the profound cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, and serving as a pioneer zone for the opening-up of culture and education, a base for international business service and recreational tourism and a new carrier for promoting a diversified and moderate economic development of Macao.
