Cisco China to Set up Its Innovation Headquarters in Guangzhou

“We will start an incomparable project in Guangzhou, and we will not disappoint Guangzhou!” Cisco’s CEO Chuck Robbins spoke frankly with assurance on the afternoon of April 22 on the 58th floor of Guangzhou International Finance Center. Twenty minutes later, Cisco and the People’s Government of Guangzhou signed a cooperation framework agreement for Cisco to set up its Innovation Headquarter in Guangzhou and the cooperation between both sides in building China’s first world leading smart city centering on smart manufacturing and Cloud technology with annual output value of more than RMB100 billion.
On the afternoon of April 22, in addition to signing the agreement with the government of Guangzhou, Cisco and 10 of its strategic cooperation partners also signed a MOU with the government of Panyu District. This means that the project will be located in Panyu District.
A senior executive in charge of Cisco’s business in Greater China confirmed that and revealed that the project will be located at Guangzhou International Innovation City in Panyu District.
Guangzhou International Innovation City, which sits in the southeastern part of Guangzhou, covers a planning area of 73 square kilometers, with the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, Guangzhou International Bio-island and the campus of the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center in the south bank start-up area, which covers a planning area of 10 square kilometers.
This area has abundant science and education resources, 12 universities and colleges that are the best ones in South China and a good foundation for development of industrial clusters. In recent years, the construction of Guangzhou International Innovation City has been accelerated and a number of projects for cooperation in innovation between China and Germany, Canada and Spain have been launched.
