Guangdong Ranks China’s 2nd in Number of High-Tech Enterprises

On May 28, the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Finance of Guangdong held the initiation meeting for provincial high-tech technical enterprise cultivation. According to the meeting, since the implementation of high-tech enterprises appraisal management methods in 2008, Guangdong has set up 9,289 high-tech enterprises, accounting for 13.7% of national total and ranking the 2nd in China. The provincial budget has established earmarked funds for high-tech enterprise cultivation. The province will invest 6 billion yuan within three years from now on. The selected enterprises will obtain subsidiary up to 5.0 million yuan.
At the meeting, the leader of provincial science and technology department introduced the Management Method for High-tech Enterprise Cultivation Fund and the Implementation Plan for High-tech Enterprise Cultivation. According to the introduction, enterprises enlisted in the high-tech enterprise cultivation reserve will win awards and subsidies of 100,000 yuan to 5 million yuan. The province will focus on support to national high-tech enterprises with intellectual property rights, core technologies, intensive R&D input and functional combination of industry, university and research to comprehensively improve sci-tech and innovation driven development. Guangdong hopes to have more than 10,000 high-tech enterprises in reserve and over 12,000 high-tech enterprises within three years.
