On June 11, Ministry of Commerce announced that China continued growth in attracting foreign investment. Between January and May, China had established 9,582 foreign-funded enterprises, up 9.6%, achieved contracted foreign capital of 771.55 billion yuan, up 40.8%, and foreign capital in actual use of 330.95billion yuan, up 10.5%, year on year. Cargill, Lufthansa, Benz and other renowned multinationals add investment in China.

 

In the first five months, modern service industry saw greater foreign investment growth. Between January and May, service industry had established 6,830 foreign-funded enterprises, up 20.9%, and achieved foreign capital in actual use of 33.94billion yuan, up 23.5%, year on year, accounting for 71.3% and 63.0% in China’s total foreign investment attracted during the period. Foreign capital in actual use had obvious growth in financial service, comprehensive technical service, and science research sectors, seeing growth rates of 475.7%, 34.7% and 132.5% respectively.
