From January to May 2016, Guangzhou saw significant growth of patent creation, and submission of 10,446 invention patent applications, up 64.3% year-on-year.

 

In recent years Guangzhou issued a batch of important policies and documents such as the Plan of Guangzhou on Implementing the IPR Strategy (2011-2015), Opinions of Guangzhou Municipal Government on Strengthening Patent Creation and more than 10 administrative measures such as Guangzhou Patent Administrative Enforcement Measures and Measures of Incentives for Reporting Counterfeit Patents. The municipal government has increased fiscal support for the IPR enforcement, and appropriated more than RMB70 million to the patent funds in 2015. And the figure is predicted to exceed RMB130 million in 2016, an increase of nearly 100%.

 

In line with the principles of “government guidance, market selection and enterprise implementation”, Guangzhou has funded patented technology with high technological level and promising market prospects and supported to commercialize the patented technologies and enlarge the production scale. Guangzhou Intellectual Property Exchange was established in April 2015, and has listed 6,781 IPR projects, with total transaction amount reaching more than RMB70 million.
