Guangzhou Maintains its Leading Position with 488,000 Registered Trademarks among Major Cities

As of the end of June, Guangzhou has 488,000 valid registered trademarks, accounting for 30% of the total of Guangdong Province, ranking the first among sub-provincial cities and municipalities with independent planning status. Specifically, it owns 125 renowned trademarks of China, 493 famous trademarks of Guangdong Province and 861 famous trademarks of Guangzhou.
 
The administration for industry and commerce and the market supervision agencies at all levels have implemented a series of special programs such as the market regulation improvement in the countryside and rural-urban fringe, Internet infringement and counterfeit crackdown, and Disney registered trademark protection, especially investigated and cracked down on products involving trademark infringement and counterfeit sold to Africa, Latin America and other emerging markets to protect the international image of “Made in China”. In the process, they investigated and dealt with 495 cases of trademark infringement and counterfeit products and cracked down on 11 trademark infringement and counterfeit dens. During the 119th Canton Fair, 130 trademark infringement complaints were dealt with, down 31.2% compared with the previous session.
 
Moreover, the administration for industry and commerce implemented the one-month promotion action for trademark law and independent brands in the first half year. More than 30,000 LED displays across the city publicized the trademark knowledge and famous trademarks of Guangzhou 12 hours a day.
