The 24th Guangzhou Fair Opens

On the morning of August 28, the 24th Guangzhou Fair opened at China Import and Export Fair Complex. Wen Guohui, mayor of Guangzhou, met with Zhu Xueqing, mayor of Wuzhou (Guangxi), Mr. Songrit R Bhuket, chairman of Thai-Chinese Economy Association, and other domestic and foreign guests to the fair.
 
It was learnt that, the 24th Guangzhou Fair, which will last from August 26 to 29, covers a total exhibition area of about 120,000 square meters, with about 6,000 booths in three comprehensive pavilions and eight specialized pavilions. Delegations from more than 30 Chinese provinces and cities and more than 10 other countries as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will attend it as exhibitors and visitors. It will be the historically highest-grade fair in terms of exhibition area, number of exhibitors and scale of specialized exhibitions.
 
At the meeting, Wen Guohui extended welcome to the guests. He said that Guangzhou is basing on the development positioning defined by the central government to spare no efforts to promote the construction of the international shipping hub, air transport hub and science and technology innovation hub, and will deepen the reform, expand the opening-up and enhance the communication and cooperation with the Pan-Pearl River Delta as well as the cities of China and other countries and different regions in accordance with the requirements under “the Belt and Road” initiative. He hoped that the attendees to the fair will make full use of the platform provided by the fair to launch in-depth and pragmatic cooperation.
 
Zhu Xueqing and Mr. Songrit R Bhuket said that the Guangzhou Fair is becoming an important platform for the communication and trade between the cities of China and other countries as well as that between different regions. They hoped that the Guangzhou Fair will provide a chance for further promoting the cooperation with Guangzhou to realize mutual development.
 
Attendees to related activities include: Li Jinqi, director general of China Foreign Trade Centre; Qu Lei, vice mayor of Harbin; Xiang Qingping, vice mayor of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture; Wu Juan, vice mayor of Nanning; Mo Qianfeng, vice mayor of Baise; Sun Shiwen, vice mayor of Haikou; Chen Youde and Yang Jun; leading officials of Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture; Bao Jianbin, executive vice mayor of Kunming; Xu Wenwei, member of the Leading Party Group of the People’s Government of Wuzhou; Tang Hanghao, secretary general of the People’s Government of Guangzhou; people in charge of related government departments of some provinces and cities; Choi Moon-soon, governor of Gangwon Province; advisor to governor of Bangkok (Thailand); Chan Yok Yee, consul general of the Consulate General for the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai; guests from the Thailand-China Friendship Association and Fukuoka (Japan); officials from consulates general of some countries in Guangzhou.
 
On the evening of August 25, Li Ming, vice mayor of Guangzhou, attended the Business and Trade Communication Conference during the Guangzhou Fair and delivered a speech.
