From September 9 to 11, the 2015 World Economic Forum - Annual Meeting of the New Champions (hereinafter referred to as the 2015 Summer Davos) will be held in Dalian. During this period, the first activity themed on “The Night of Guangzhou” sponsored by the People’s Government of Guangzhou will be held.

 

Themed on “Charting a New Course for Growth”, the annual meeting attracted more than 1,700 guests from more than 90 countries to discuss about the new and important issues that have impacts on the economic growth of China and even the world under the circumstance of science and technology innovation. The Summer Davos forum centers on six themes, including transformation of science, subverted industries, economic uncertainties, environmental boundaries, China’s new normal, and significance of humankind.

 

Currently, Guangzhou is taking the chance of the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” strategy and the construction of the pilot free trade zone to accelerate the construction of the international shipping center and logistics center, the trade center, the modern financial service system and the national central city for innovation, create clean, ordered and secure urban environment and market-oriented and law-based international business environment, promote investment and trade facilitation and propel higher-level opening-up. It is making great efforts to carry out the innovation-driven development strategy and adapt to the economic “new normal” to allow value innovation play a leading role and promote a secure, environment-friendly, high-quality, efficient and sustainable development. Emphasis has been laid on the construction of a number of platforms and carriers, including the Nansha New Area Zone of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Independent Innovation Demonstration Area mainly based on the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and the Guangzhou Development District, the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone and the Pazhou Internet Innovation Cluster, aiming to promote highly concentrated and chained development of the advanced manufacturing and modern service industries.

 

To make full use of high-end platform of the Summer Davos to promote the advantages of Guangzhou and expand the international influence of the city, Guangzhou will hold “The Night of Guangzhou” during the event. It is the first time for Guangzhou to hold such activity during the Summer Davos. A number of important guests, including Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, will attend the activity at invitation.
