The 10th China Automobile Forum Held in Guangzhou and New Energy Vehicle Industrial Park to Be Established in Huadu District

The 10th China (Huadu) Automobile Forum opened on September 24 in Huadu District, Guangzhou. A number of magnates from the auto industry met in Huadu District and shared and exchanged their opinions on overseas merger and acquisition of auto part enterprises based on their experience. Ye Zhiliang, deputy secretary of the CPC Huadu District Committee and acting director of Huadu District, attended the activity and informed that Huadu District is building a new energy vehicle and smart equipment industrial park covering an area of about 12 square kilometers in the southwestern part of the district to expand the cluster of the auto industry to one with total output value of hundred billion yuan.
 
He said that the auto industry is a source of power for the economic growth of Huadu District as well as an accelerator for urban development. He said, “Since 2003, when Dongfeng Nissan established its business in Huadu District, the annual output value has increased from RMB11.4 billion to RMB134.5 billion through a high-speed development during 10 years, with an increase of more than 10 times. At the same time, more than 200 parts manufacturers have settled down in Huadu District and formed up an industrial cluster of Guangzhou. It can be said that the auto industry changed Huadu District within 10 years and Huadu District now has a new appearance because of the auto industry.”
 
Chen Guocai, deputy head of the Headquarters of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, said that, as one of the major finished automobile manufacturers of China, Dongfeng Nissan has been adhering to the concept of “half step ahead” and the spirit of “brave business pioneering” under the new economic pattern and new reform trend and has established the first advanced engineering technology center of China. Centering on “smart technology” and “environmental protection”, the center is engaged in building a digital factory platform with emphasis laid on automation and informatization. It also specializes in research and development of new materials, new equipment and new processes to promote process innovation. In addition, it focuses on integrating environment protection technologies into energy, materials and processes for energy saving and emission reduction.
 
In recent years, Huadu District has shown increasingly highlighted competitive advantages in location, transportation and resources, and continuously improved urban functions, environment and carrying capacity for industrial development. A number of national, provincial and municipal strategic development platforms have been established in the district, allowing it to enter an urban development stage for “dividends”. Currently, Dongfeng Nissan has had a capacity for production of 20,000 pure electric vehicles each year. Through demonstration operation of new energy vehicles, Huadu District has taken a lead in research and development, manufacturing and promotion of pure electric vehicles as well as providing related supporting products and services, catching great attention of the auto industry. A number of enterprises engaged in manufacturing key parts related to new energy vehicles have settled down in the district. 
 
It was learnt that, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Huadu District will lay the emphasis on building an industrial cluster for development of new energy vehicles and core parts along the advanced manufacturing industrial belt in the western area. Taking advantage of the integrated industrial chain structure and excellent clusters based on the Bajiang River and its banks to build a new energy vehicle and smart equipment industrial park covering an area of 12 square kilometers, which will focus on research and development of cutting-edge technologies, new energy vehicles and key parts and smart equipment. In the future, the advanced manufacturing industrial park will be expanded from 50 square kilometers to 215 square kilometers; the construction of the functional zones, including the business and trade circle, the culture and sports circle, the education zone, the residential cluster, the service cluster and the administration cluster will be enhanced; great efforts will be made to promote the development of strategic emerging industries, including new energy vehicle and core parts as well as smart manufacturing equipment, to gradually extend and optimize the industrial chain of the auto industry.
