From October 11 to 13, the “Focus on Guangzhou” Activity for Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Overseas Chinese was held in Guangzhou. As a major part of the activity, the “Focus on Guangzhou” Roundtable on Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Overseas Chinese was held in yesterday afternoon. Ouyang Weimin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Committee and executive vice mayor of Guangzhou, attended the activity and delivered a speech.

 

Cai Zhaolin, vice mayor of Guangzhou, presided over the roundtable. Lu Yixian, member of the Standing Committee and director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Guangzhou Committee, delivered a welcome speech, informing that Guangzhou is open to all the overseas Chinese and hoping that the overseas Chinese will pay more attention to and provide more support for Guangzhou to integrate into the development of Guangzhou.

 

Yu Jianming, deputy director of the Department of Economy and Science and Technology of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, delivered a speech, hoping that the overseas Chinese will have a better understanding of the investment environment of Guangzhou and more profound perception of China’s new-round reform and opening-up through the activity to take seize the new opportunities to seek for further mutual development and new cooperation. Then, officials in charge of Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission and other departments as well as district governments introduced the development plans, policies on innovation and business launch and zones for priority industrial development of Guangzhou. Nine entrepreneurs, including Xu Rongmao, chairman of Shimao Group Hong Kong, delivered speeches to share their experience in investment in Guangzhou and provide suggestions on how to optimize and improve the environment of Guangzhou for innovation and business launch.

 

Ouyang Weimin said that Guangzhou is a good place with appropriate conditions for business and industrial development, good platforms for innovation and business launch, excellent policy system for business launch and huge development potential. He hopes that the overseas Chinese entrepreneurs will seize the opportunities to make investment and seek for a development in Guangzhou with firm confidence. Guangzhou will adhere to the concept of “our services for your investment and your benefits for our development” to join the hands with the overseas Chinese entrepreneurs to step toward a future featuring mutual innovation and business launch, sharing and win-win cooperation.

 

It was learnt that more than 60 famous Chinese businessmen from 12 countries and regions attended the activity as representatives. In addition to the roundtable, the guests also attended the inauguration ceremony of the South China Modern Services Exchange and visited the Zhujiang New Town, the TIT Creative Industrial Zone and the National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou for a field survey on investment environment and negotiation on related projects.

 

Representatives of the overseas Chinese, including Chen Jianghe, Huang Rui’e, Chen Jingwei, Gu Runjin, Lin Kexu, Chen Shiwei, Gong Yi, Han Zhongchao, Tan Fei, Yang Tianpei, Chen Zhiwen, Chen Youbin, Sun Junling, Kang Yonghua, Deng Mulian, Zhu Yunping and Chen Dandan, as well as leading officials from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province and the government of Guangzhou, including Zhang Jiaji and Chen Yimi, attended the activity.
