Guangzhou Plays a Leading Role in Output and Sales of Numerically-Controlled Machine Tools for 12 Years

On the afternoon of October 24, the Research Symposium Themed on “Accelerating Development of High-Grade Numerically-Controlled Machine Tools and Industrial Robots Industry” was held at the Hongjin Hall (2/F) of Zhudao Hotel by the research group under the leadership of Li Yizhong, member of the Standing Committee and deputy director of the Economic Committee of the CPPCC National Committee as well as former Minister of Industry and Information Technology. Lin Musheng, vice chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Committee, attended the symposium.
 
At the symposium, representatives of related departments and enterprises of Guangdong made reports to the research group. The high-grade numerically-controlled machine tools and industrial robots industry is one of the priority developed industries under the Made in China 2025 guidelines. In recent years, the provincial government of Guangdong has been focusing on making arrangement for the development of advanced manufacturing industrial belt at the west bank of the Pearl River and promoting a fast development of the high-grade numerically-controlled machine tools and industrial robots industry.
 
It was learnt that, the numerically-controlled machine tools industry of Guangdong is mainly distributed at the Pearl River Delta. There are more than 60 enterprises of certain size in this field, with annual output value of about RMB14 billion. So far, a national key base for numerically-controlled machine tools have been set up, with Guangzhou playing a leading role and mutual development of Shenzhen, Foshan (Shunde), Zhongshan and Jiangmen. The efficiency of industrial cluster has preliminarily shown. The output and sales of numerically-controlled machine tools of Guangzhou has been playing a leading role in China and even the world for 12 years.
 
According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2015, there had been 159 key enterprises engaged in robots in Guangdong. In 2015, about 7,500 industrial robots (including 2,000 Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs)) were manufactured in Guangdong.
