Recently the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science & Technology publicized the assessment results of 2014 national scientific and technological enterprise incubators. Sixteen national incubators of Guangzhou attended the assessment, and seven of them were rated Excellent (Grade A), four good (Grade B) and five qualified (Grade C). Guangdong ranks the first in terms of the number of outstanding incubators of the prefecture level and above. Guangzhou ranks the first in Guangdong province with an excellence rate of 43.75%.

 

As of 2014, Guangzhou has 85 incubators which were incubating 5344 enterprises, out of that 16 are national level, eight provincial level and 21 municipal level. Guangzhou’s scientific and technological incubators are focused on high-tech enterprise incubation. The city has eight incubators for the biomedicine sector only. The differentiated services of different incubators have form a complete service chain. This good situation of Guangzhou is benefited from the startup policies released by Guangzhou and the improved startup service system provides guarantee for the entrepreneurship and startup. Guangzhou has released five policies for incubators and is one of the cities with the most complete incubator policies. The relevant director of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Scientific and Technological Innovation said the quality improvement of the incubators laid a foundation for the transfer of scientific and technological achievements and was an important link of the innovation-driven economic development strategy. It will effectively stimulate the good trend of public innovation and contribute to the industrial upgrade and economic development.
