“Internet + Foreign Trade” Forum Held in Guangzhou

On October 26, the “Internet + Foreign Trade” New Mode and New Opportunity Summit was held in Guangzhou. The forum was jointly sponsored by the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-Commerce Comprehensive Experiment Zone, and Alibaba International Business Unit. Leaders of the Department of Commerce of 17 provinces jointly explore the foreign trade mode innovation under the pressure of economic downturn. The forum unveils that the “Internet + foreign trade” mode driven by big data can better export of China while the experiences on cooperation between the government and foreign trade service platform is worthy of being promoted around the country.
 
In recent years the cross-border e-commerce has become an emerging foreign trade mode and boomed. It has become as an important channel for a number of traditional foreign trade enterprises to embrace “Internet +” and realize industrial transformation. It is estimated China’s cross-border foreign trade amount will reach RMB6.5 trillion in 2016, the proportion of cross-border e-commerce of China’s total foreign trade will increase to 20% in the following years and the annual growth rate exceeds 30%. It is generally believed in the industry that the cross-border e-commerce is a new channel to explore the foreign trade market and will play an important role in expanding the international market share, fostering competitive advantages of foreign trade and realizing transformation and upgrade of China’s manufacturing.
