Guangzhou Aims to Ascend to Top 15 Global Shipping Centers

The political and business representatives from 70 countries and regions gathered in Guangzhou to discuss “Port City Development and Cooperation”.
In order to carry through the “One Belt and One Road” development strategy, build a comprehensive cooperation platform between Guangdong and countries along the Maritime Silk Road, the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo was held from October 28 to 31 in Guangdong. Today, political and business representatives from 70 countries in five continents got together in Guangzhou to attend the High-end Forum on Port City Development and Cooperation.
Guangzhou is a millennial commercial city with 236 Fortune 500 Corporations, and completed US$40.5 billion of foreign trade with countries along the “One Belt and One Road” in 2014. Grasping the good opportunity of the construction of the Maritime Silk Road, Guangzhou will try to realize more than US$160 billion of foreign trade in 2017. Relying on the strong base of the third largest airport and the third largest shipbuilding base in China, Guangzhou aims to build an international shipping center ranking among Top 15 of the world.
