On the morning of December 3, the 7^th plenary meeting of the 10^th session of CPC Guangzhou Committee opened. Ren Xuefeng, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and secretary of CPC Guangzhou Committee, chaired the meeting and made a theme speech on behalf of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangzhou Committee. In order to scientifically plan and boost the development during the 13^th Five-year Plan period, Guangzhou must further intensify its mission as a national central city and a provincial capital, and give full play of its role as an engine and a growth polar in national and provincial development, Ren Xuefeng stressed. Centering on expanding urban development space, we’ll focus on the development of an international shipping hub, an international aviation center and an international sci-tech innovation center, and the optimization and improvement of the economic belt, innovative zone and landscape area along the banks of the Pearl River to accelerate the setup of a development pattern supported by growth in multiple aspects, build a major and comprehensive traffic hub, forge a grid-like urban layout with clearer levels, more complete functions and more convenient communications.

 

As for the innovation-driving development strategy, we’ll center on building a national innovation center to nurture innovation entities, enhance development of innovation carriers, create innovation ecological environment, accelerate the construction of Pearl River Delta National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone and the Comprehensive Innovation Reform Core Experimental Zone to have a complete improvement of the city’s sci-tech innovation strength, Ren added.

 

As a millennial commercial capital, Guangzhou will also accelerate the construction of an international center for shipping, logistics and trade and a service system for modern finance.
