Number of Guangzhou Port’s “Friends” Reaches 38

Recently Guangzhou Port and Malacca Port officially signed the sister port cooperation agreement. This is another important breakthrough Guangzhou Port has made in the exchanges and cooperation with Malaysian ports, following the establishment of the sister port cooperation agreement with Port Klang in 2015. So far the number of Guangzhou’s sister ports have increased to 38.
According to the sister port cooperation agreement, Guangzhou Port and Malacca Port will work together to build a long-term comprehensive cooperation relationship to realize win-win results, carve out the ship routes to better services to the market and improve the trade relationship between China and Malaysia. The two ports will make good use of the advantages of the “Belt and Road” initiative of China and cooperate centering on the port infrastructure construction, modern logistics services, multimodal transportation, smart port construction and personnel training etc.
Chang Min, director of Guangzhou Port Authority, said Malacca Port enjoys a huge development space in the future and he hoped both parties could organize shipping companies and consignors to make field investigation to the other’s port and jointly build a platform to provide business opportunities for enterprises of both sides. Malacca Port Authority chairman said he was confident in the promising future of Nansha Port and hoped to deepen the long-term cooperation with Guangzhou Port and share information in the fields of the scientific and technological innovation and “Internet +”.
