China's Chongqing sees more tech-based enterprises

CHONGQING - The southwestern Chinese municipality of Chongqing has a total of 16,918 technology-based enterprises in 2019, up 53.4 percent year-on-year, according to local authorities.

Among the total, the number of high-tech firms in Chongqing reached 3,141, up 25 percent year-on-year, according to the municipal science and technology bureau.

In 2019, nearly 97 percent of the new high-tech firms in the city are in advanced manufacturing and automation, electronic information and new material industries.

The municipality aims to increase the number of technology-based enterprises to 20,000 this year, including 3,500 high-tech firms.
