China's efforts to pursue self-reliance in crucial technologies is to meet the nation's growing demand for cutting-edge products and services, said the nation's top industry regulator on Monday.

Xiao Yaqing, minister of Industry and Information Technology, said at a news conference that such efforts do not mean that the nation will seek isolation.

"China will continue to deepen cooperation with other countries," Xiao said.
