Chinese smartphone vendor Realme has unveiled its latest 5G smartphone after it recorded strong performance in the first quarter of this year in its home market.

Xu Qi, vice-president of Realme, said the sales of Realme's smartphones in the first quarter of this year in the Chinese market were almost equal to that of the full year of 2020.

The company will continue working hard to bring quality handsets to consumers, Xu said.

The company's latest smartphone model GT Neo is powered with MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 chipset. It comes with a 6.43-inch screen with a punch hole in the right corner, and features a 64 mega-pixel main shooter on the back. It is flanked by an 8 mega-pixel ultra-wide-angle cam and a 2 mega-pixel macro sensor. The front-facing camera has a 16 mega-pixel sensor.

Launched in the middle of 2018, Realme is a fast-growing smartphone brand in the world, chiefly relying on its popularity in e-commerce sales channels and its resonance with young consumers.

In February, there were more than 21.3 million smartphones shipped out of factories to retailers across China, marking a year-on-year surge of 236.6 percent, according to the data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a Beijing-based government think tank.
