Cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies will be showcased at the Fifth World Intelligence Congress, a top-level gathering focusing on the global intelligence science and technology field for academic exchanges, exhibitions, open innovation and deepening cooperation, the congress organizer said on Thursday.

Wang Weidong, deputy mayor of the Tianjin municipal government, said the congress, to be held in the city from May 20 to 23, will showcase the latest achievements in AI, smart manufacturing, digital economy, smart cities and other areas.

Wang said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 5th WIC will be held both online and offline this year, gathering the world’s influential scientists and entrepreneurs of intelligent technology.

Four kinds of events, including conferences, exhibitions, competitions and intelligent experience activities, are planned for this year’s WIC, attracting participants from companies and universities all over the world, Wang added.

The congress will have a 48,000-square-meter exhibition and experience area where more than 220 companies and institutions, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and tech heavyweight Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, will exhibit their latest products and technologies.

Wang said Tianjin has formed a relatively complete chain and ecology of innovative applications of information technologies after several years’ development.
