BEIJING - China's shipments of cellphones saw a decline in July, with fewer new models hitting the domestic market, industrial data showed on Tuesday.

Domestic shipments of cellphones totaled 19.908 million units in July, down 30.6 percent year-on-year, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

Cellphones enabling 5G services took the lion's share of July's shipments with 14.672 million units, a 35.7-percent year-on-year decline.

In the first seven months of this year, domestic cellphone shipments dropped to 156 million units, down 23 percent year-on-year.

A total of 22 new models hit the domestic market in July, down 15.4 percent from July 2021, CAICT data showed.
