Didi Global Inc said on Thursday it is partnering with new energy vehicle companies to mass-produce unmanned vehicles for ride-hailing services.

The first car model under this agreement will be connected to the company's platform in 2025, Meng Xing, chief operating officer of Didi, said at an event in Shanghai.

On Thursday, Didi also unveiled a concept robotaxi known as Didi NEURON. The concept car has a mechanical arm which can provide services such as picking up luggage and delivering water to enhance the passenger experience.

Didi NEURON also has no driver's seat, maximizing passenger space. The big-screen interactive system features services such as online meetings and gaming.

At the same event, Zhang Bo, chief technology officer of Didi, said users of the new version of the Didi app can hail autonomous-driving vehicles in designated areas in Shanghai and Guangzhou, Guangdong province.
