Scale of China's AI industry over 578b yuan in 2023: report

The number of artificial intelligence enterprises in China has exceeded 4,000 in 2023, said a report released June 20, reported CCTV news on Thursday.

According to the report, the scale of China's core AI industry reached 578.4 billion yuan ($79.67 billion) in 2023, a 13.9 percent growth year-on-year. The generative AI adoption rate of Chinese enterprises reached 15 percent, and the market size is around 14.4 trillion yuan.

The report, focusing on the development of China's new generation of artificial intelligence technology industry, was released during the 2024 World Intelligence Expo which opened in North China's Tianjin, on Thursday.

The government unveiled an action plan earlier this year to promote industrial equipment upgrades aiming to boost industrial investment by more than 25 percent for the 2023-2027 period.

By 2027, the penetration rate of digital R&D and design tools in major enterprises will exceed 90 percent, and over 75 percent of their key production processes will be numerically controlled.
