Chinese display panel supplier Visionox Technology Inc is accelerating steps to expand its presence in the flexible organic light-emitting diode or OLED sector, bolster technological advancements in the cutting-edge display and strengthen cooperation with terminal device makers.

The company said on Thursday that the accumulative shipments of its OLED panels reached 240 million units, while the shipments of AMOLED panels used in wearable devices took the top spot worldwide in the first half of this year.

Industry experts said that compared with the traditional liquid crystal display (LCD), OLED is the next-generation display technology that has enhancements in image contrast, brightness and a wider color spectrum, thus further accelerating the upgrade of the display industry.

China's flexible display panel industry is expected to see speedy growth. The penetration rate of OLED panels in the smartphone market worldwide will stand at 50 percent by 2026, according to marketing consultant Sigmaintell.

Visionox has launched its newest light-emitting materials, which have improved in terms of luminous efficiency, device lifetime and image quality. The new material will be applied to the screens of major domestic smartphone makers.

It will strive for technological innovation and promote the industrialization of next-generation luminous materials in collaboration with industrial chains, the company said.
